So much time and so little done, summer is on in full force and the evil Arizona sun has sapped the drive out of little ol' me, so pardon the long pause between posts.

The Call of Cthulamp came, it saw , it conquered and was sold! A success if I do say so myself. There were many awesome lamps to be seen at the show and I like to think that Cthulamp held it's own among them, and maybe corrupted them a little, so if you feel yourself being drawn into the light, fear not, that is just your sanity slowly ebbing away...you wont be needing it anyway. ;)

My tribute to my least favorite holiday, everything is closed and it's the worst of the holiday candy. ;P Hollow chocolate bunnies...what a gyp.

Home again, Home again...

This post is a bit late coming do to the onset lethargy caused by a prescription of Soma (back attack, ouch).

So what can I say about San Francisco...oh yeah, it's absolutely brilliant! Definitely now my top pick of places I want to live.
We stayed at the Hotel Kabuki in Japan town and hoofed it most of the journey arting it up as we made our merry way.
First stop was White Walls and The Shooting gallery, I had to stop here after seeing so many pics of the place in Juxtapoz. Only got a couple of strange looks at I snapped a few photos and explained that I was art blogging.
I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak of a piece by Chris Pugliese, his work is evidently striking, being that I picked it out sitting on the floor wrapped in plastic waiting for an upcoming show. Justin, a gallery employee was nice enough to unwrap it so I could get a better look.

Next stop was 111 Minna, hidden in an alley it's easy to miss if you don't keep your eyes peeled for the bright red door, but is a definite must. I was told that I had to check it out by artist friend Matt Brown (of Push Gallery in Phoenix), and I was not disappointed. From an artists perspective and from a viewers as well, I advise checking it out.

Next time I hope to catch an opening here, but we had strict plans involving a night of burlesque, featuring the remarkable..ahem..talents of the Hubba Hubba review at San Fran's DNA Lounge...but I'll save that for net time. ;)

Off I go in to the wild blue yonder....

Heading to San Francisco the day after tomorrow, and I can't wait to hit a few of the low brow galleries I see in Juxtapose, like The Shooting Gallery and White Walls.
This is my first time to San Francisco where I get to spend more than a couple of hours.

Here's a water color I finished recently called Reflecting...I haven't really decided how I feel about it, I decided not to work for perfect symmetry which I thing may have been a mistake.

2 Days of Doodling and a possible case of carpal tunnel

Being the slow post holiday season at the day job, I've had a bit of time to fill, and what better to fill is with than swirly curlys <--- I deem that a word, who are you to say otherwise. >:I

Valentine's art preview

Valentine's art is something I've always love to do, I don't know why, maybe it's the sheer garishness of the Holiday, that no one pretends it has anything to do with it's original origins or maybe I just like having an excuse to eat a half pound of chocolates in the name of L-O-V-E. I actually really dislike the color pink, but I put that aside once a year and become inspired to paint anything from heart shaped horror stories to scantily clad nymphs. Of course I'll be saving the Nymphs for the opening of the new site, but here's a little something I've been playing at. ;)

Unrequited

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just another little story from my head, painted in Gouache on paper.
I only started painting in Gouache last year, and it has quickly become my favorite medium to work with. For those who have never worked with it, it's an opaque water color favored by designers.

I learned about it while on a vacation to Disneyland. As long as I can remember, one of my Disney musts was to visit the little watch shop on Main Street, where an artists would work on painting the image of choice while sitting at a drafting table in the front window of the shop. If you were lucky enough to afford to have a watch made you got to keep the original painting and a watch with the image shrunk to fit the watch face. (unfortunately I have get to be able to afford one....someday *dramatically shakes fist here* SOMEDAY!!)
I finally got up the nerve to interrupt the artist at work and in true "vintage" Disney fashion she very kindly told me everything I wanted to know.

Sorry, to explain the "Vintage", I grew up going to Disneyland, as old as this makes me sound, the level of service has continued a downward slide over the last 10 years. Now it seems like they are more interested in getting you in and out of their hair as quickly as possible than giving you that surreal-ly pleasant Disney experience I grew up to know and love. Though you can still find employees there that started back when this was the standard.

It's Official...

My website is well under construction and in good hands with exciting new changes to come...well, exciting to me at least. For now this will be my home away from home, where I'll show off any new arts that will later be featured on the site. Here's a sneak peak of new art to come...
